Zakat is the 3rd pillar of Islam and the most important financial obligation upon every Muslim. The word Zakat was mentioned 32 times in the Quran. and God commanded the believers to give Zakat more than 20 times in the Quran.
The Ottawa Muslim Association has been providing Zakat Assistance for over 40 years. We are currently supporting about 200 families per year, with a total Zakat distribution of over $100,000 annually.
