What Is Islam and What Does It Mean to Be a Muslim?

Islam is a religion based on peace, submission to God, and compassion toward others. The word Islam comes from the Arabic root meaning peace and surrender to the will of Allah (God). A Muslim is someone who believes in one God and follows the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Islam teaches moral values such as honesty, kindness, justice, and respect for humanity. Muslims believe in the Quran as the final holy book and follow five core practices known as the Five Pillars of Islam, which guide their daily lives and spiritual growth.

Being Muslim is not only about worship, but also about living with integrity, helping others, and maintaining a strong connection with God.
